ULTRASONIC INSPECTION

Sound waves having a frequency of 200KHz to 15MHz are employed for the examination of materials. These waves possess properties very similar to visible light. They can be refracted, focused and reflected. Using a method of controlling these properties, it is possible to utilise it as an effective means of inspection for the following purposes:-

  1. A method of inspection to detect potential defects within the component being inspected.
  2. Ideally suited for the detection of imperfections in materials particularly thicker sections where radiographic examination may be impractical.
    Typical applications:-
    1. Lamination and wall thickness checks
    2. Weld examination checks
    3. Raw material surveys
  3. Avoids creating the hazards of radiation, which occur when using Gamma and X-Ray Radiation.

Due to its lightweight and compact size, it makes it an extremely portable and easy to handle piece of equipment ideally suited to site application.
