Inidam was founded in Romsey, Hampshire, in 1978, when industrial inspection in the UK was still largely an in-house function of the fabricators and operators it served. Almost half a century later, we are one of the most experienced independent NDT and inspection houses in the country.

Inidam Limited was established in 1978 by a small team of qualified non-destructive testing inspectors who recognised a gap in the UK market: independent, high-quality inspection delivered by people who understood the industries they served. The founding philosophy hasn't changed in nearly fifty years — every inspection is led by qualified inspectors, every report is written for the engineers who'll use it, and every relationship is built on the assumption that we'll still be working together in a decade.
From a single laboratory in Romsey, Hampshire, we grew steadily through the 1980s and 1990s, taking on aerospace work, petrochemical inspection contracts, and the fabrication QA work that has been the backbone of UK industry. As the regulatory landscape evolved — with the rise of UKAS, PCN Level 3, and ASNT certification — we invested in the qualifications and accreditations that allow our work to stand up to the most rigorous scrutiny.
Today, Inidam operates from the same Romsey site, with on-site inspection teams deployed across the UK, Europe, and further afield. Our technicians have inspected pressure vessels in the Gulf, aerospace components in North America, marine structures in the North Sea, and fabrication shops the length and breadth of Britain. Inspection only earns its weight if it’s independent. We are not part of the fabricators or operators we inspect for, and we don’t soften findings to suit the commercial relationship. The point of independent NDT is the independence — we are protective of it.
Available when it matters.
Inspection failure is rarely convenient. Our phone is answered around the clock, our laboratory accepts urgent work, and our site teams deploy at short notice — including weekends, holidays, and shutdowns. We are not a 9-to-5 service.
Reports written for engineers.
An inspection report should answer the question the engineer was asking, not bury it in standard language. We write reports that name the finding, locate it, photograph it where useful, and explain what it means — clearly, in language the project team can act on.

Where the work
begins.
Inidam's headquarters and primary laboratory sits on Budds Lane Industrial Estate in Romsey, Hampshire. The site houses our radiography, ultrasonic, surface inspection, hardness testing, and PMI capabilities. Most of our laboratory-based work is turned around within one to three working days; on-site work is dispatched from the same address.
